Woodstock

Woodstock is a market town and civil parish, 8 miles north-west of Oxford in West Oxfordshire in the county of Oxfordshire, England. The town has been surrounded by a series of protective earthworks since at least Anglo Saxon times. Woodstock Palace was one of the largest and most sumptuous palaces in Europe. King Charles I was captured at the surrender of the Royalist army in 1646 after he lost to Parliamentary forces and was imprisoned and executed outside this palace. The 17th century Woodstock would have been one of England's most attractive towns with prosperous trade, mainly with France, but also with other European countries. The town is under 30 minutes from the Static Holiday Homes provided by The Cotswold Retreats Company
